The standard, which has 36 sections, provides a mechanism for giving assurances to retailers and purchasers about the production standards of suppliers, and thereby assurances regarding the safety and integrity of the product.

The scheme has been designed to provide assurances that chocolate products are manufactured in accordance with a specified product standard which goes beyond the relevant legislation and demands best commercial practice.
